Zebras lose to Weiner

The Weiner Cardinals staged a furious second-half rally to defeat Black Rock 68-60 in senior high boys basketball action on Thursday at Black Rock.
After holding a slim 28-26 halftime lead, Black Rock exploded out to a 19-point lead late in the third period. The Cardinals began their comeback and trimmed the Zebras lead to 50-37 entering the fourth quarter.
Weiner tied the game at 60-60 with 1:45 to play and then relied on strong defense and clutch free-throw shooting to secure the comeback win.
Les Foster led Black Rock with 23 points, and Ben Walker added 15.
The Black Rock junior high boys defeated Weiner 53-23.
Black Rock picked up a 60-45 road win at Viola on Dec. 11.
Chris Richardson and Walker had 13 points apiece to lead the Zebras.
