Hillcrest boys drop games

The Cedar Ridge Timberwolves proved to be unkind guests, as they dealt Hillcrest a pair of lopsided defeats in boys high school basketball on Friday at Lynn.
In the senior boys match, Cedar Ridge took an early 28-4 lead and held a commanding 52-8 lead at halftime.
Cedar Ridge led 63-16 over Hillcrest at the close of the third quarter, on their way to a 74-30 win.
Derek Wooten led Hillcrest with nine points. Ricardo Rodriquez contributed eight points, and Aaron Britton closed with five. Chris Blevins and Patrick Corder had four points each.
In junior high action, Cedar Ridge raced out to 14-3 first quarter lead and led 26-9 at halftime.
The junior Timberwolves led 36-20 after three quarters and defeated the junior Eagles 50-26.
Trevor Morgan led Hillcrest with eight points. Dylan Wooten followed with seven points, and Tyler Parker added six points. Billy Brannon contributed four points, and Zach Doyle added a free throw.
The Hillcrest senior boys traveled to Pleasant Plains to face the Midland Mustangs on Dec. 11.
The Mustangs took a 21-12 lead after one quarter, but Hillcrest fought back to close the gap to 34-30 at halftime.
Midland pulled away in the second half, recording a 72-56 win.
Derek Wooten led the Eagles with 24 points and eight rebounds. Dustin Durham contributed 10 points, and Britton had six points and five steals. Blevins recorded five points, and Tyler Crews notched four. Josh Mayland chipped in a three-pointer, and Jacob Clifton had two points. Rodriquez had two points and three steals.
