Sendoff for troops to be Tuesday

A "Salute to the Troops" will be held Tuesday evening at 5:30 as a formal sendoff for Company A, Second Battalion, 153rd Infantry of the 39th Brigade, headquartered in Walnut Ridge.

The event will be held at the Walnut Ridge First Baptist Church with several involved in the presentation.

The Walnut Ridge High School choir will sing "There's a Hero" and "United We Stand," Betty Johnson will sing "God Bless America" and Kristen Mengis of Williams Baptist College will sing the National Anthem.

Danny Vaughn will play the bagpipes, and the children of the soldiers will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Others participating will include County Judge Alex Latham, Rev. Dale Hughart, pastor of First Assembly of God in Walnut Ridge and Dr. Brett Cooper of WBC.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
