SHALL WE DANCE Rita and Brad Dickson of Black Rock promenade with other couples during the Grand March at the Holiday Ball held Saturday evening at the Powhatan Courthouse. The event raised almost $500 for the Historic State Park and was well attended.

The Quorum Court appropriated $39,457.34 to the Rails to Trails Project during its regular meeting Monday night.

Kiwanis to match December
donations to Shepherd Care
People giving monetary donations to Shepherd Care during the month of December will have a chance to have that donation matched. The Kiwanis Club of Walnut Ridge has agreed to donate up to $1,000 to Shepherd Care to match any gifts made to the clothing ministry this month.

Sendoff for troops to be Tuesday
A "Salute to the Troops" will be held Tuesday evening at 5:30 as a formal sendoff for Company A, Second Battalion, 153rd Infantry of the 39th Brigade, headquartered in Walnut Ridge.

WR group completes mission to Space Camp
A group of students from Walnut Ridge Middle School and their chaperones, including this writer, spent Friday through Sunday, Nov. 30 ~ Dec. 2, attending U.S. Space Camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala. The students are part of the school's Gifted, Talented and Creative (GTC) Program, coordinated by Tonda Brand.
