Bobcat teams beat Midland

Walnut Ridge's senior high basketball teams traveled to Pleasant Plains to face the Midland Mustangs on Nov. 20.

Senior girls

Walnut Ridge's Rachel Looney and Alivia Hackworth each recorded a double-double to lead the Lady Cats to a 58-49 win over the Lady Mustangs.

Walnut Ridge led 11-9 after one quarter, 24-22 at halftime and 39-32 at the end of the third period.

Looney finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Hackworth had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Vanessa Oliver added 10 points and four assists. Jordan Rorex had six points and six steals. Chelsea Treadway had six points and Carrie Massey added two.

Junior girls

Ashley Baker scorched the nets for 26 points and had six steals as the Walnut Ridge junior Lady Bobcats defeated Midland 50-33.

Walnut Ridge led 12-7 after the first quarter, 27-21 at halftime and 39-24 after three quarters.

Also for Walnut Ridge, Amanda Emison had eight points. Katie Lewis had seven points and 13 rebounds. Megan Osbahr had six points, Daniel Vaughn had two points and Ashton Lawson added a free throw.

Senior boys

In senior boys action, Tommy Lawrence had 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Bobcats to a 59-36 win.

Dereck Medlock and Bennett Dudley each had nine points for Walnut Ridge, and Logan Gaither had five assists.
