Swaim, Turnbull receive honors

Dr. Jerol Swaim (right) and Judy Turnbull were named Man and Woman of the year at the annual Chamber banquet Tuesday night at Williams Baptist College.

Dr. Jerol Swaim and Judy Turnbull were honored as Man and Woman of the Year Tuesday night at the Chamber of Commerce's annual banquet held at Williams Baptist College.
Swaim, who is president of WBC, was selected for the honor for his contributions to the college and the community. Williams Baptist College has benefited from Swaim's leadership. During his years at the college's helm, the school has experienced growth in the student body, advancement in academic programs and improvements to the campus.
"I'm really honored and grateful," Swaim said. "It is a tremendous honor. I'm grateful to be a part of this community."

from Lawrence Health
The Lawrence Health Services Board of Directors accepted resignations from President Leah Osbahr and Chief Financial Officer Sandy Sullins at its meeting Monday night.

Tillman injured by IED in Iraq
1st Lt. Jeremy Tillman, a former resident of Walnut Ridge, is in stable condition after being injured late Saturday or early Sunday while on active duty in Iraq. His mother, Marianne Snapp Ditto of Hoxie, said he was injured by an improvised explosive device (IED) while on routine foot patrol in Baghdad, Iraq.

Outdoor Channel to spotlight
area's great duck hunting
The Outdoor Channel will soon help spread the word that Northeast Arkansas is a great place for waterfowl hunting. The cable channel was in Lawrence County on Monday of last week to video a segment for it's new 2008 program entitled "Tracks Across America."
