Lady Cats beat Quitman
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats traveled to Quitman Friday night and defeated the Lady Bulldogs 56-27 in high school girls basketball.
Walnut Ridge took control of the match early, leading 21-6 after the first quarter, 35-12 at halftime and 50-19 after three periods.
Alivia Hackworth led the Lady Cats with 16 points. Rachel Looney added 10 points and had 10 rebounds. Chelsea Treadway had a free throw and five assists. Staci Spargo added nine points, and Vanessa Oliver contributed seven. Chelsey Linebaugh notched five points, and Jordan Rorex closed with four points and five steals. Lacey Cobble topped out with three points, and Carrie Massey added a free throw.
The junior Lady Bobcats hosted Weiner on Thursday.
Walnut Ridge took a 14-11 first-quarter lead and increased their lead to 25-14 at halftime.
The junior Lady Bobcats dominated this match, leading 30-20 heading in to the final quarter and earning a 41-30 win.
Ashley Baker led Walnut Ridge with 23 points. Katie Lewis followed with seven points. Megan Osbahr added four points and seven rebounds, and Ashley Roacho had four points. Daniel Vaughn notched two points, and Ashton Lawson added a free throw.
The Lady Bobcats defeated White County Central 49-29 on Nov. 13 at Walnut Ridge.
Walnut Ridge led 12-8 after one quarter and 25-14 at halftime.
Walnut Ridge held WCC to four points in the third quarter, as they took a 40-18 lead into the final period.
Looney led the Lady Cats with 14 points. Hackworth and Treadway each had 10 points. Cobble and Linebaugh each had four points, and Massey added three points. Amber Caldwell and Regan Jean closed with two points each.
The junior Lady Bobcats defeated Ridgefield Christian 54-21 on Nov. 12 at Walnut Ridge.
Walnut Ridge took a 13-1 first-quarter lead over the junior lady Warriors. The junior Lady Bobcats continued to hammer the boards, taking a 33-10 halftime lead.
Walnut Ridge owned the second half, leading 42-18 at the close of the third quarter and coasting to a 54-21 win.
Lewis led the Cats with 16 points and seven rebounds. Vaughn added 10 points and seven rebounds, and Baker had 10 points. Roacho chipped in eight points and had five assists, and Osbahr contributed six points. Lawson and Anna Griffin each had two points.
