Lady Hounds defeat WCCDebbie Richey
The Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds traveled to Judsonia Friday night to face the White County Central Lady Bears in high school basketball action.
In the senior high contest, Sloan-Hendrix grabbed an 8-4 first-quarter lead. WCC battled the Lady Hounds in the second period, but Sloan-Hendrix maintained a 19-15 lead at halftime.
The Lady Greyhounds held tight in the third quarter, moved out to a 36-25 lead at the end of the quarter and won by a score of 43-38.
Amanda Green led Sloan-Hedrix with 15 points, five rebounds, an assist and four steals. Megan Break had a double-double, with 12 points, 10 boards and two steals. Christie Caldwell totaled five points, three rebounds, a steal and an assist.
Kristin Belcher topped out with five points, five rebounds, two steals and an assist. Latricia Mans had four points and three rebounds, and Kara Morris closed with two points and two steals. Katelyn Morris added a steal, and Kandice Henson had an assist.
In the junior high game, WCC eased to an 8-6 first-quarter lead and continued to hold a 17-13 lead at halftime, despite the lady Hounds' efforts.
Sloan-Hendrix continued to battle in the second half, but trailed 29-17 at the end of the third quarter. The junior Lady Hounds bounced back in the final period and tied the game on different occasions before eventually falling to the Lady Bears 35-33.
Gennifer Simpson led the junior Lady Hounds with 15 points, eight rebounds and a steal. Haley Slusser contributed nine points, four rebounds, five steals and two assists. Kayla Griffin had four points and 10 rebounds.
Madicyn Huddleston added three points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal. Morgan Smith closed with two points and an assist. Maegan Austin recorded nine rebounds and an assist, and Sara Childress had an assist.
The junior Lady Hounds hosted Ridgefield Christian on Nov. 13.
Sloan-Hendrix took a 7-4 lead over the Lady Warriors at the close of the first quarter and led 14-7 at halftime.
The Lady Greyhounds continued to lead 23-12 heading into the final quarter and went on to take the win 26-16.
Kayla Griffin led the junior Lady Hounds with 11 points, 16 rebounds and an assist. Haley Slusser followed with nine points, a rebound, two steals and three assists. Maegan Austin recorded two rebounds, two assists and a steal, and Morgan Smith pulled down five rebounds.
Gennifer Simpson added four points, four rebounds and a steal. Madicyn Huddleston closed with two points and two rebounds, and Sara Childress had two rebounds.
