Hoxie girls sweep BrooklandDebbie Richey
The Hoxie Lady Mustangs hosted Brookland in girls basketball action on Nov. 13. The Lady Mustangs kept the home fans happy by sweeping three contests from the Lady Bearcats.
In senior high action, the Lady Mustangs took a 22-7 first-quarter lead over the Lady Bearcats and continued to hold a lead of 39-15 closing the first half.
Hoxie held the Lady Bearcats to four points in the third quarter, as they increased their lead to 58-19 and won by a score of 58-27.
Megan Black led the Lady Mustangs with 23 points and four rebounds. Jessica Barber followed with 13 points and 10 boards. Raven Gates added eight points, two assists and eight steals. Brooke French totaled six points, and Whitlee Parrish had five. Alyssa McConnell notched two points, and Tanya Sisco recorded a free throw and four assists.
In junior girls action, Hoxie led 13-6 at the closed of the first quarter.
The junior Lady Mustangs did not let up, as they notched a 30-11 lead at halftime.
Hoxie hammered the boards and took a 41-19 third-quarter lead. The junior Lady Mustangs put this match in the books with a 45-22 victory.
Amy Galbreath led Hoxie with 17 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and seven steals. Katelyn Cook had seven points and Neely Ragsdale had six.
Kelsy Lewis had five points and five rebounds. Autumn Simpkins, Autumn Nelson, Karina Mashburn, Leslee Parrish, and Cayley Rosson all had two points apiece.
In seventh grade girls action, Hoxie grabbed a 6-4 lead heading into the second quarter. The Mustangs continued to hold a 10-7 lead heading into halftime.
Hoxie increased its lead to 18-9 in the third period and won the match 24-11.
Krista Coffell and Madison Woodard each had six points. Amanda Moskop had four points, and Kayla Ward, Courtney Rice and Sarah Manis had two points each.
The Hoxie senior girls fell to EPC 63-32 Thursday night at Lepanto.
Black led Hoxie with 15 points.
