Cats split games with Quitman

Walnut Ridge traveled to Quitman Friday for boys high school basketball action.

The senior boys fell to the Bulldogs 53-35.

Tommy Lawrence led the Cats with 10 points. Tyler Meadors and Bennett Dudley had seven points each.

The Walnut Ridge junior high boys defeated Quitman 26-22 to improve to 2-1 for the season.

Chris Dickson led Walnut Ridge with 11 points.

White County Central

Walnut Ridge hosted the White County Central Bears on Nov. 13.

In senior boys action, Walnut Ridge grabbed an early 17-9 lead over the Bears at the close of the first quarter, but WCC outscored the Cats 24-6 in the second period to take a 33-23 lead at halftime.

Despite the Bobcats' efforts, they fell to WCC 62-51 in their 2A-3 conference opener.

Lawrence led the Cats with 12 points and six rebounds. Mitchell Thompson added 10 points.

The Bears took a 34-27 win over Walnut Ridge in the junior high boys match.

Walnut Ridge was led by Dickson with 12 points. Kyle Johnson added eight points.

Ridgefield Christian

The Walnut Ridge junior high boys defeated Ridgefield Christian 50-26 on Nov. 12 at Walnut Ridge.

For Walnut Ridge, Dickson had 15 points, and Clay Hufstedler added 14. Kyle Johnson chipped in eight points.
