S-H teams see action
The Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds traveled to Pleasant Plains on Nov. 6 to take on the Midland Lady Mustangs in high school basketball action.
The Lady Hounds took a 14-9 first-quarter lead and continued to lead 27-17 at halftime.
The Hounds had a lull after the break, as Midland slipped into a 40-38 third-quarter lead.
The final quarter was a power game. Trailing 50-49 with 45 seconds showing on the clock, Lady Hound Christie Caldwell was sent to the charity stripe, where her first free throw tied the game 50-50. Caldwell missed the second shot, but Sloan-Hendrix's Kristin Belcher rebounded and put back the shot for a 52-50 lead.
Midland missed a last-second shot attempt and fouled Caldwell on the rebound. Caldwell went back to the line and made one-of-two free throw attempts to seal the 53-50 win for the Lady Greyhounds.
Belcher led the Greyhounds with 21 points, 11 boards and an assist. Hannah Rowsey followed with 11 points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals. Amanda Green totaled six points, six rebounds and three assists. Megan Break finished with six points, eight rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Caldwell closed with four points, three rebounds and an assist. Kara Morris added three points, three boards and an assist. Amy Green recorded two points, and Kandice Henson had an assist.
The Sloan-Hendrix junior Lady Greyhounds defeated Quitman 55-43 at Quitman.
The Sloan-Hendrix senior boys hosted Twin Rivers for homecoming Friday at Imboden.
Twin Rivers defeated the Greyhounds 62-45.
Chad Orrick led the Greyhounds with 15 points, and Stanley Archer added 12.
