Lady Cats beat BR

Walnut Ridge hosted Black Rock in girls basketball on Nov. 5.

In senior high action, Walnut Ridge grabbed a 14-6 first-quarter lead over the Lady Zebras and extended the lead to 33-19 at halftime.

Black Rock began to control the Lady Cats in the second half and closed the gap to 44-37. The Lady Cats withstood Black Rock's comeback attempt and posted a 58-46 win.

Alivia Hackworth led the Lady Cats in scoring with 17 points, and Chelsea Treadway followed with 16. Rachel Looney recorded a triple-double, with 14 points, 14 boards and 10 blocks. Vanessa Oliver added six points. Jordan Rorex and Chelsey Linebaugh closed with two points each, and Lacy Cobble added a free throw.

Junior high

In the junior high game, Walnut Ridge held a 16-2 lead at the close of the first quarter. The Bobcats proved to be too much for the Lady Zebras, as they took a 26-6 lead into halftime.

Walnut Ridge continued to lead 41-14 closing the third quarter en route to a 48-19 victory.

Ashley Baker led Walnut Ridge with 13 points. Katie Lewis and Megan Osbahr contributed nine points each. Ashley Roacho totaled eight points, and Amanda Emison tossed in four. Ashton Lawson closed with three points, and Daniel Vaughn added two.
