The Walnut Ridge Bobcats' 2007 football season came to an end Friday night at Rison with a 42-6 loss to Woodlawn in the first round of the Class AA state playoffs.
"We gave up a safety on our first possession and things went downhill from there," said Bobcat head coach Larry Treadway.
"Offensively, Derek Medlock, Bennett Dudley, Mitchell Thompson and Logan Gaither all had good nights catching the football. Brandon Dawson ran the football hard for us. Tyler Meadors finished his Bobcat career with the same intensity he had as a sophomore in his first start at Gillett," said Treadway.
Defensively for the Bobcats, Bennett Dudley and Logan Gaither led the team with seven tackles each, and Tristan Fernandez had six tackles.
"Woodlawn just lined up and ran straight at us. We couldn't slow them down. When the secondary are the leading tacklers, you know your opponent was pretty good up front," added Treadway.
"We will take one week off and start our kids back to work in the weight room. Our kids understand that most of our opponents were physically stronger than we were, and we plan to spend more time in the weight room," he said.
Walnut Ridge ended the season with a 2-9 overall record.
