Mustangs advance in state
The Hoxie Mustangs routed the England Lions 37-7 Friday in the first round of the Class AAA state football playoffs at Crider Field.

Hoxie's Houston Hancock tossed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Adam Madden with 4:22 to play in the first quarter. Brad Cook's extra-point kick was good, giving the Mustangs a 7-0 lead.
With five seconds left in the first half, Mustang David Sanders kicked a 35-yard field goal, increasing Hoxie's lead 10-0 at halftime.
Tyler Thompson scored on a two-yard run in the third quarter. Cook's kick was successful, as Hoxie increased their lead to 17-0. Hancock threw a six-yard pass to Cody West with 3:56 left to play in the third quarter. Cook's kick made the score 24-0.
Cats end season
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats' 2007 football season came to an end Friday night at Rison with a 42-6 loss to Woodlawn in the first round of the Class AA state playoffs.

Pocahontas teams top
The boys and girls basketball teams from Pocahontas High School are top seeds of the 2007 Williams Baptist College Invitational. The tournament opens Nov. 24 at Williams.

Lady Mustangs sweep Harrisburg
The Hoxie Lady Mustangs opened the basketball season in winning style, sweeping three contests from Harrisburg Friday night at Harrisburg.

The Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds traveled to Pleasant Plains on Nov. 6 to take on the Midland Lady Mustangs in high school basketball action.
WR girls sweep Twin Rivers
Walnut Ridge's Lady Bobcats swept the Twin Rivers Lady Panthers in junior and senior high girls basketball action on Thursday at Walnut Ridge.
Hoxie announces All-Conference honors
Lady Mustangs Megan Black and Ashley Glenn were selected for senior high All-Conference honors in volleyball.
