Looney honored as one of
state's 20 Heisman finalists
WRHS Principal Charles Lee recognizes senior Rachel Looney for being a state finalist in the Wendy's High School Heisman Award Program.
Twenty of Arkansas' top scholar-athletes have received recognition as state finalists and winners in the 2007 Wendy's High School Heisman Award program. One of the 20 is Rachel Looney, a Walnut Ridge High School senior.
Looney is the daughter David and Karen Looney of Walnut Ridge.
"Rachel is an excellent student, she scored high on her ACT and she's an excellent athlete for us," said Charles Lee, WRHS principal.
Looney is an All-Conference selection in both volleyball and basketball, and as a junior she was named All-State in basketball. continued...
HOMECOMING CANDIDATES NAMED -
Candidates for the 2007 Hillcrest basketball homecoming court were named last week. They are (front, from left): Morgan Penn, eighth grade; Samantha Blevins, freshman; Erica Highfield, seventh grade; Chelsea Sneed, freshman; Sydnee Martin, eighth grade; Lindsey Crews, seventh grade; (middle) Breanna Doyle and Kayla Smith, juniors; Allison Harris and Natalie Johnson, sophomores; and (back) Kalie Durham, Jessica Broadway, Whitney Jones and Addison Gaither, seniors. The Eagles will face Cave City on Nov. 20 at 5:30 p.m. The court will be presented between the junior and senior boys games.
