The Walnut Ridge Bobcats finished the regular season with a 2-8 overall record and a 2-3 record in 2A-3 conference play.
Walnut Ridge will travel to Rison to take on the Woodlawn Bears in the first round of the state playoffs. Woodlawn finished undefeated in the 8AA conference and is the number one seed from the conference. They are coached by the legendary former Pine Bluff coach, Marion Glover.
"We are proud to be playing in the first round for the second consecutive year. We hope to establish a tradition of getting in the playoffs every year," said Walnut Ridge head coach Larry Treadway.
"Over 200 teams started the season with playoff hopes and a little over half will make the make the first round, so we are glad to be traveling to Woodlawn this Friday. We have traded films and they appear to be outstanding. Our kids are excited, and we look forward to the game," said Treadway.
Woodlawn is located 15 miles south of Pine Bluff on Highway 63.
