Eagles beat Twin Rivers,

Hillcrest hosted the Quitman Bulldogs in senior boys basketball on Friday at Strawberry.
The game was tied 10-10 at the close of the first quarter and remained close throughout the second quarter with Quitman easing into halftime with a 28-25 lead.
The Bulldogs began upping their defense and increased their lead to 44-33 at the end of the third quarter. The Eagles were unable to get back in the game, falling to Quitman 62-48.
Jordan Hunter led the Eagles with 14 points, four rebounds and an assist. Dustin Durham had 10 points, four rebounds and two assists. Derek Wooten contributed eight points, five rebounds and an assist.
Chris Blevins notched six points and 10 rebounds. Ricardo Rodriquez had four points and four rebounds. Aaron Britton had four points and five rebounds. Patrick Corder had two points and six rebounds, and Jacob Clifton had a rebound.
The Hillcrest junior high and senior high teams picked up wins over Twin Rivers on Thursday at Williford.
In the senior high game, Hillcrest took a 17-12 first-quarter lead over the Panthers. The Eagles stepped up their defense in the second quarter and increased their lead to 28-36 at halftime.
Hillcrest overpowered Twin Rivers in the second half, holding a 55-37 lead closing the third quarter and taking the win 71-56.
Hunter led the Eagles with 24 points, eight boards and an assist. Durham added 22 points, a steal, five assists and five rebounds. Britton closed with 10 points, 11 boards and an assist. Rodriquez totaled six points, a rebound and an assist. Derek Wooten added four points, two rebounds and two assists. Clifton added two points and a rebound. Blevins had two points, nine rebounds and two assists. Robert Jones closed with a free throw, a steal and a rebound, and Josh Mayland recorded a steal.
In the junior high contest, Hillcrest jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back en route to a 46-31 win.
The junior Eagles led 19-6 after one quarter and 23-10 at halftime. Hillcrest increased their lead to 45-22 at the close of the third quarter.
Trevor Morgan led the Eagles with 12 points and a steal. Dylan Wooten added nine points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Tyler Parker had six points and a steal. Billy Brannon had six points, a rebound and a block.
Tyler Durham had six points and a rebound, and Zach Doyle closed with three points. Hunter Nunnally closed with three points, a steal and three rebounds. Zach Bilbrey and Austin Harris notched two points each, and Ben Allen had a steal.
The White County Central Bears defeated Hillcrest on Oct. 30 at Judsonia.
Derek Wooten led Hillcrest with eight points, two rebounds and a steal. Hunter added seven points and had a rebound. Durham totaled six points, two steals and a rebound. Rodriquez notched six points, a rebound and an assist. Clifton had six points, a steal and four boards.
Blevins recorded four points, a block and 12 boards. Mayland tossed in three points and had a rebound. Robert Jones contributed two points, and a rebound. Aaron Britton had two points, a steal, an assist and five rebounds. Corder closed with two points and three rebounds, and Tyler Crews had two rebounds.
