BR teams compete in Classic

The Black Rock senior high boys and senior high girls opened their respective basketball seasons in the Mount Pleasant Classic on Oct. 16.

The Black Rock senior high boys were defeated by the host Mount Pleasant Bluebirds 75-44.

Chris Richardson led Black Rock with 17 points and four assists and pulled down 10 boards. Garrett Maronde added eight points, two rebounds and two assists. Jay Nunally totaled eight points and two rebounds.

Ben Walker notched four points, a rebound and two steals. Les Foster closed with two points and three assists. Clay Lester and Landon Stephens each recorded two points and one rebound.

Senior girls

Black Rock's Lady Zebras lost to Mount Pleasant's Lady Bluebirds 57-44.

Lady Zebra Whitney Martin topped out with 17 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Ashley Stallings tossed in nine points and had four rebounds, and Stephanie Bagwell notched eight points, two rebounds and two steals.

Brittany Anderson added six points, five rebounds, an assist and a steal, and Jordan Fore recorded four points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.
