New staff joins IACSThree new professional staff members have joined the staff of Imboden Area Charter School for the 2007-08 school year according to Judy Warren, director of IACS.
"We are excited about the new staff members that have joined our professional team here at Imboden Area Charter School," Warren said, "and we expect their presence to enhance the overall outcome of each student."
Larry Steele of Imboden has been hired as a part-time counselor for the school. He has six years of experience in education and counseling, as well as several years experience as an attorney in practice in Walnut Ridge. Steele will hold this position in addition to operating his law practice, and serving as city attorney for Walnut Ridge.
"His experience within the community has added depth and understanding to his position as a counselor here at IACS. We are also pleased to have another positive male role model on our staff. He has proven to be a team player who has a heart for children," said Warren.
Jerion Pillow of Paragould has been hired as the part-time special education teacher at IACS. She is a mother of four children and has been a regular classroom teacher for eight years, serving in Arizona, Oklahoma and Arkansas. She is working on her master's degree in special education at Arkansas State University and is excited about using the charter school's curriculum to better serve students. Warren describes her as "extremely enthusiastic, a very hard worker and one who is very serious about helping each student achieve his/her potential."
Sonya Jines of Imboden is the new part-time school nurse. She has worked the past 12 years as an LPN and became a registered nurse last year.
"She already has an advantage over the other new staff members - her three children have attended IACS for one year, and she is well acquainted with our goals in education. She is beginning her tenure here with training specific to school nursing and will soon begin applying it as she conducts our vision and hearing screening. She is a welcome asset to our team," said Warren.
Warren added, "I think we have an outstanding staff here at IACS, and they are all dedicated to providing each child a tailor-made education."
