Lady Mustangs fall to Brookland, beat Bay

The Hoxie Lady Mustangs traveled to Brookland on Oct. 9 to take on the Lady Bearcats in junior and senior high volleyball action.
The senior Lady Mustangs fell 21-25, 11-25, 17-25.
Megan Black earned 10 digs, eight kills and five blocks. Ashley Glenn totaled 10 digs, two kills and two assists. Kelsey Dobbs served six-of-six, with two aces and seven digs. Courtney Jones recorded 12 digs, two kills and two blocks.
Chasity Becker notched 11 digs, two kills, seven assists and a block. Ashley Ramsey had 10 digs and a kill, and Kassie Teel added two digs and a block.
The Lady Mustangs are seeded second in the upcoming district tournament, which will be played at Cave City.
Hoxie fell to Brookland in the junior high match 22-25, 14-25.
Amanda Whaley was six-of-six serving, with four digs and six assists. Kelsey Lewis closed with two aces, eight digs, two blocks and two kills. Katelyn Cook recorded seven digs, a kill and two assists. Devine Wilson notched eight digs, two kills and a block, and Alyssa Coggins had seven digs. Amy Galbreath had three digs, five kills and a block, and Jessica Boothe totaled four digs.
The junior Lady Mustangs finished the regular season as conference runners-up for the season.
Hoxie hosted Bay on Oct. 8 and took the win 25-18, 28-26, 25-8.
Black had 10 kills and two blocks. Glenn had five kills and nine assists, and Courtney Jones added seven kills. Becker recorded six kills and 16 assists, and Teel closed with three kills.
