Steven and Catherine Harthorn of College City have announced the birth of a son on Sept. 20, 2007, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro. The baby weighed six pounds, nine ounces and has been named Henry Theodore Harthorn.
He has two brothers, Edward, 11, and William, who is deceased, and a sister, Caroline, four.
Grandparents are Steven and Linda Harthorn of Holland, Mich., and June Van Bruggen of Durham, N.C. and the late John Van Bruggen.
Jerry M. Sr. and Dianne Bice of Ravenden have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, JoLeane Marie Bice, to Richard Hudson, son of Timmy Hudson of Clover Bend and Louise Hudson of Walnut Ridge
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Babe and Gladys Bice and the late Frank Sr. and Dorothy Hahn. She is a graduate of Sloan-Hendrix High School.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Lilly Willfond of Walnut Ridge and the late Edgar Willfond and Mary Hudson of Palestine and the late Johnny Hudson. He is a graduate of Walnut Ridge High School and is a farmer.
The couple will exchange vows on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bice Sr. in Ravenden. All family and friends are invited.
Elizabeth Annette Guthrie and Daniel Wallace Foster were united in marriage on June 29, 2007, in Nassau, Bahamas.
The bride is the daughter of Becky Guthrie and Ken Guthrie. She is the granddaughter of the late Kenneth and Frances Guthrie, who lived in Walnut Ridge.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Foster of Little Rock are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Winnifred Wallace of Kennett.
The couple is making their home in Little Rock.
Sam and Becky Spades of Black Rock announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Sara Ann Spades, to Jonathan David Kopp, son of Danny and Susan Kopp of Hoxie.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Richard and Ina Ruth Spades of Cabot and Marian and Betty Reese of Augusta, Ga. She is a 2002 graduate of Black Rock High School and a 2007 graduate of Arkansas State University with a bachelor of science in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Lucille Sanders of Thayer, Mo., and the late M.E. Sanders and the late Daniel and Bonita Kopp, who lived in Hoxie. He is a 2002 graduate of Hoxie High School and is employed with Walnut Ridge City Waterworks.
The couple will exchange vows on Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. at the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Pocahontas. All family and friends are invited to the wedding and reception to follow at the Walnut Ridge Country Club.
Shirley Aaron, 71, of Walnut Ridge, died Oct. 13, 2007, at her home.
Born Jan. 19, 1936, at Portia, she was a punch press operator for National Lock Company.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Miriam Kay; her parents, Ott and Vivan Anderson; two brothers, Bill Anderson and Rick Anderson; and a sister, Barbara Turner.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Erickson, Walnut Ridge, and Ken Erickson, Chicago; two daughters, LaDene Erickson and Kay Conley, both of Paragould; a sister, Nancy Williams, Walnut Ridge; a granddaughter, Chastity Kerley; and two great-grandchildren.
No funeral services will be held. Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro has charge of arrangements.

Esther Austin, 102, of O'Kean, died Oct. 11, 2007, at Randolph County Nursing Home in Pocahontas.
She was a retired school teacher for the Delaplaine and Peach Orchard school districts and was a member of O'Kean Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Jim Austin, Peach Orchard; two daughters, Betty Underwood, Little Rock, and Janice Ford, Pocahontas; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Burial was in Pirtle Cemetery at Peach Orchard.
Evan Joseph de Mello, 4, of Marion, Ill., died Oct. 4, 2007, at St. Louis Children's Hospital.
Born Sept. 18, 2003, in St. Louis, he was the son of Sean and Natalie Walls de Mello.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Karen Patton; his great- grandmother, Elizabeth Zurba; and great-grandparents, Hassie and Luther Walls and Van and Janis Ellis.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his grandparents, David and Marilyn Walls, and Russ and Marguerite Ellis Dory, formerly of Walnut Ridge; his grandfather, James Patton; his aunts, Heather Walls and Caitlin Walls; and an uncle, David Walls Jr.
Funeral was, Saturday at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Revs. Dan Boyd and R.G. Walls officiating.

Velma Hensley Emmons, 91, of Cave City, died Oct. 16, 2007, in the Cave City Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 24, 1915, in Coeburn, Va., she was the daughter of Frank and Victoria Bond Hensley. A graduate of Radford College in Virginia, she taught all 12 grades in a one-room school and later worked as a cook at a public junior high school in California. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Cave City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Emmons; a sister, Sarah Hensley; and three brothers, Jasper Hensley, Bill Hensley and Tucker Hensley.
Survivors include a son, Frank Emmons, Cave City; three daughters, Esther Emmons and Elizabeth Alonzo, both of Cave City, and Vicky Emmons, Anaheim, Calif.; a brother, Dallas Hensley, Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; three sisters, Lakie Harrison, Romance, Elsie Day, Santa Fe Springs, and Louise Godfrey, Norwalk, Calif.; six grandchildren, Stephanie Parsons, Joy Alonzo, Michael Alonzo, Richard Alonzo, Shelby Alonzo and Brandi Parker; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church on Matlock Road in Cave City with Jeff Holland officiating. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, east of Cave City, under the direction of Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers will be Richard Parker, Richard Alonzo, Michael Alonzo, Kenneth Harrison, Ronnie Harrison and Rick Harrison. Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Brenda F. Machalek, 62, of Rock Island, Ill., died Oct. 11, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island.
Born May 15, 1945, in Saffell, she had worked as an office manager for QCA Pools and Spas. She was a member of Heritage Wesleyan Church, where she attended Heart Strings.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jon Lindsay; and her father, Bill Dawson.
Survivors include her husband of almost 20 years, Sidney Malachek, whom she married on April 16, 1988; a son, Timothy Lindsay and wife Laura, Carbon Cliff, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Arminda Machalek, Corpus Christi, Texas; her mother and stepfather, Agnes Huskey Dawson Wilcox and Kenny Wilcox, Sebastian, Fla.; a brother, David Dawson and wife Juanita, Garland, N.C.; three grandchildren, Alexis Lindsay, Shawn Lindsay and Cassy Lawrence; and a great-grandson.
A memorial service was held Monday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. in Moline, Ill. Private burial was in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline.
Memorials may be made to her grandchildren's education fund.

Wendy Renay Martin, 45, of Walnut Ridge, died Oct. 12, 2007, at Walnut Ridge.
She had lived most of her life in Lawrence County and was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include three sons, Jason T. Baker and Chadd T. Baker, both of California, and Corbyn T. Martin, Walnut Ridge; three daughters, Jessica L. Baker, Hoxie, and Sterling L. Martin and Sheela L. Martin, both of Walnut Ridge; her mother, Mary Louise Stiny, California; her grandmother, Della Moore, Hoxie; and three grandchildren, Colin J. Baker, Kevin T. Baker and Kendy R. Baker.
Funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Chuck Fitzgerald and Randy Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.
Visitation is tonight from 5:30 to 8 at the funeral home.
Beulah Leona Lawrence McGoldrick, 98, of Ravenden, died Oct. 13, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 25, 1909, near Ravenden, she was the daughter of Lucius and Lizzie Pickett Lawrence. She worked in the automobile industry at Flint, Mich., before retiring to Ravenden in the late 1960s. She was a member of the Ravenden Extension Homemakers Club and the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude McGoldrick, whom she married on Sept. 19, 1927; a brother, Leonard Lawrence; and a sister, Alene Frisbee.
Survivors include a sister, Nina Clements Davis, Colorado, Springs, Colo.
Graveside service was Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Opposition Cemetery, near Ravenden, with Jerry Clements officiating. McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas had charge of arrangements.
Bonnie Faye Valenzuela, 67, of Jonesboro, sister of Jennifer Walker of Walnut Ridge, died Oct. 4, 2007, at NEA Medical Center. A memorial service was held Thursday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Al Presley officiating. Burial will be in California at a later date.
