Mustangs remain undefeated

The Hoxie Mustangs and East Poinsett County Warriors entertained the fans with an explosion of offense Friday night at Lepanto. In the end, it was the Mustangs pulling away in the second half for a 50-30 win to remain undefeated.

Hoxie took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on Houston Hancock's five-yard pass to Cody West. Brad Cook kicked the extra point.

EPC scored with 8:26 left in the quarter, but the extra point failed, leaving Hoxie with a 7-6 lead.

The Cross County Thunderbirds invaded Sexton Field and overwhelmed Walnut Ridge's Bobcats 36-0 in senior high football action Friday night.

is 2A state runner-up

The Walnut Ridge High School golf team finished its most successful season ever with a runner-up finish in the Class 2A State Tournament held at the Lions Club Municipal Golf Course in El Dorado on Oct. 2.

Hoxie's junior and senior high volleyball teams traveled to Paragould Thursday to take on the Crowley's Ridge Academy Lady Falcons.
