BR School hires new teachers

A few new faces have joined the teaching staff at Black Rock School this year.

Candi Yarbro, who is teaching first grade, is a native of Lawrence County. She received her BSE from William's Baptist College and taught at Westside for three years. Yarbro currently resides in Powhatan with her husband, Albert, and their two children, Levi, 11, and Emma Grace, 14-months.

Miki Womack is teaching third grade at BRES this year. She received her bachelor's in early childhood education, and is a first year teacher. She and her husband, Jeff, who is Black Rock's basketball coach, are expecting their first child in May.

Sarah Gott, a native of Mammoth Spring, is a teacher's assistant at Black Rock Elementary this year. She attended Black River Technical College in Pocahontas. She and her husband, Roy, live in Black Rock with their three children, Malachi, Alexandra and Allyson.

New classes offered

Several new classes have been added to Black Rock High School's curriculum this year including pre-advanced placement English language for sophomores, AP biology, human anatomy and physiology and sports and entertainment marketing.

The school has also implemented the JEDI computer program for use in remediation and enrichment for all its students.
