Homecoming game rescheduled

Hoxie High School's homecoming football game scheduled for Friday night was forfeited by Barton. Homecoming activities have been rescheduled for Oct. 19 when the Mustangs will face off against the Brinkley Tigers.

Mustangs continue to roll

The undefeated Hoxie Mustangs went on the road to face the defending 3A-3 conference champion Harrisburg Hornets in high school football action on Friday. After falling behind 13-0 in the third quarter, Hoxie battled back to tie the game and force overtime, where Houston Hancock's two-yard run gave the Mustangs a 19-13 win in the conference showdown.

The Mustangs entered the game as the sixth-ranked team in The Jonesboro Sun's Best 7 Under the Sun poll, but it was Harrisburg who jumped to a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter.

Cats lose close
homecoming game

The Walnut Ridge Bobcats hosted the Chaffee Red Devils in high school football on Friday night. The visitors from Missouri put a damper on the evening's homecoming festivities, handing the Bobcats another close loss 13-6.

WR golf team claims regional title

The Walnut Ridge High School golf team claimed the championship of its regional tournament on Sept. 18 at Cooper's Hawk Golf Course in Melbourne. The Bobcat golfers advance to the Class 2A State Tournament, to be held Oct. 2 at the Lion's Club Golf Course in El Dorado.

Bay, fall to Brookland

Brookland traveled to Walnut Ridge on Thursday and defeated the Lady Bobcats in a senior high volleyball match 25-16, 25-12, 25-14.

The Hoxie Lady Mustangs hosted the Lady Hornets of Harrisburg in high school volleyball action on Thursday.

The Walnut Ridge senior Lady Bobcats traveled to Jonesboro Saturday to take part in the ASU Volleyball Playday.

Tennis Cats suffer loss

Crowley's Ridge Academy swept Walnut Ridge in high school tennis action at Jonesboro on Sept. 17. The CRA boys won 7-1, while the girls took a 3-0 decision.
