Lady Mustangs fall to
CRA, beat Cave City
Visiting Crowley's Ridge Academy defeated Hoxie 25-22, 25-19, 25-17 in senior high volleyball action on Thursday.
Hoxie's Megan Black recorded six digs, nine kills and eight blocks. Ashley Glenn added three kills, six assists and four blocks, and Kelsey Dobbs had seven digs.
Courtney Jones topped out serving 4-for-4 with a kill and four blocks. Chasity Becker notched 10 assists, two kills and four blocks, and Ashley Ramsey added six digs and a kill.
CRA also won the senior B game 25-17.
Hoxie won the junior high match 25-19, 25-17.
Amanda Whaley was 12-of-12 from the line with two aces and six assists. Katelyn Cook served 5-of-5 from the line, with three digs and a kill. Kelsey Lewis added six digs, five kills and a block.
Devine Wilson closed with four digs, a kill and a block. Amy Galbreath went 11-of-12 from the serving line, with five digs and a block, and Jessica Boothe recorded 4-of-4 serving with three digs.
Hoxie traveled to Cave City to take on the Cavewomen on Sept. 11.
Hoxie took the win in the senior high mathc 25-12, 25-20, 25-15.
Black had 10 digs, 11 kills and a block. Glenn closed with seven digs, 10 kills and six assists. Dobbs recorded six digs, and Jones had 12 digs and five kills. Becker added 15 digs, five kills and 12 assists. Ramsey closed with 17 digs and Kassie Teel notched five digs and a kill.
Hoxie won the junior high match 25-13, 25-19.
Whaley was 11-of-12 from the line with an ace, three digs, two kills and five assists. Cook added two aces and two kills, and Lewis closed with two digs. Wilson had three kills, Galbreath had two kills, and Boothe recorded two aces.
The junior Lady Mustangs volleyball team traveled to Valley View Friday and Saturday to play in the Blazer Blast.
The Lady Mustangs won all five of their matches in pool play, sending them to the Gold Bracket of the tournament as the #10 seed.
In Friday's action, Hoxie defeated Wynne 25-15, Bay 25-13, 25-9, and Southside 25-8, 25-5.. The Lady Mustangs fell to Wynne 21-25, Westside 20-25, 22-25 and Marion 11-25, 23-25.
Hoxie traveled back to Valley View on Saturday, losing to Marion 18-25, 22-25.
Whaley and Lewis were named to the all-tournament team.
Whaley served 29-of-30 from the line, with 10 aces, nine kills and 20 assists. Cook recorded 13 kills, 16 assists and three blocks. Lewis went 14-of-16 from the line, with five aces, 14 digs, 14 kills and five blocks. Wilson was 18-of-19 from the serving line, with three aces, 12 digs and four kills. Galbreath closed serving 38-of-42, with 17 aces, 11 digs, eight kills and two blocks.
Boothe went 11-of-13 from the line, with an ace and 12 digs. Sarah Brumley notched two digs and a kill, and Brianna Liscomb had two digs, three kills and two assists.
