Walnut Ridge traveled to Piggott Friday to take on the Mohawks and fell to Piggott 38-16.

Walnut Ridge (0-2) was only down 18-16 at the end of the third quarter, but the Mohawks increased the score in the final quarter to secure the win.

Walnut Ridge sacked Piggott's quarterback in the end zone with 6:24 left in the second quarter to record a safety and add to the Bobcat lead. Piggott scored a touchdown in the third quarter, taking a 12-9 lead, but the Bobcats responded once again when Tyler Meadors found Derek Medlock on an 18-yard toss to make the score 16-12, which stood at the half.

Piggott scored again in the third, making it 18-16, and continued to increase the score in the fourth quarter.

Offensively Jared Blackwell led the Bobcats with 60 yards on 14 carries. Tel Britton had three carries for 31 yards, Colton Simpson had eight carries for 29 yards and Meadors had nine carries for 24 yards.

Defensively, Corey Sellers and Ryan Bounds led the team in tackles.

"We are still struggling to play four quarters of good football," Coach Larry Treadway said. "After this Friday night, we will have played three strong playoff contenders, hopefully by playing good competition early, we will be battle tested, and ready for our AA conference games."

The Bobcats will travel to Lepanto Friday to face East Poinsett County beginning at 7:30 p.m.
