Mustangs trample Mountain View

The Hoxie Mustangs defeated Mountain View 46-6 in senior high football on Friday night at Crider Field.
Mountain View took an early 6-0 lead with 6:57 to go in the first quarter, with the extra point failing.
With 5:08 left in the quarter, Mustang Alex Ward raced 36 yards for a touchdown to tie the game. Brad Cook kicked the extra point to give Hoxie the lead 7-6.
Ward controlled the second quarter, scoring two touchdowns to boost the Mustangs to a 19-6 lead with 7:22 left in the half.
Houston Hancock recorded a three-yard touchdown as the time clicked off the clock in the first half, putting Hoxie ahead 26-6 at halftime.
With 9:32 left in the third quarter, Hancock scored on a two-yard run. Cook's extra point was good, as the Mustangs took a 33-6 lead.
Ward scored his fourth touchdown on a 13-yard run with 5:05 to play in the third quarter. Cook made the extra point to make the score 40-6 at the end of the third quarter.
With 11:18 left in the fourth quarter, Seth Swartzlander scored Hoxie's final touchdown on a one-yard run. The kick failed, making the final score 46-6.
Ward rushed for 97 yards and four touchdowns on 10 carries. Hancock notched 62 yards and two touchdowns on six carries. Houston Waldrupe earned 58 yards with four carries, and Tyler Thompson went 39 yards on six carries. Hoxie totaled 369 yards in rushing.
Hancock passed 3-for-7 for 86 yards.
Adam Madden had two catches for 51 yards, and Cody West closed with one catch for 35 yards.
Hoxie recorded 455 yards in total offense.
Leading tacklers were Tyler Thompson with seven and Clay Hart and Houston Waldrupe with six tackles each.
