RAINS HAMPER AIR SHOW ~ Air show attendees get a close-up look at a MIG-17 fighter plane on Saturday parked on Swindle Field at the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport. Area thunderstorms kept the air show performance to a minimum. The Walnut Ridge Army Flying School Museum had a steady stream of visitors despite the weather.

A crew of seven members from the Little Rock Air Force Base flew a C-130 aircraft Monday morning to Walnut Ridge, where local and area fire and emergency personnel met with them and toured the aircraft.
Rains slow beginning
Lawrence County farmers are busy with the fall harvest, though recent rains following a long dry spell have slowed them down the past few days. Heavy rains over the weekend, with some farmers receiving up to four inches or more, was too late to help a lot of crops. The weekend rains brought the first measurable rainfall since July 10.

The Lawrence County Quorum Court passed a resolution Monday night to support the application for a grant for the local Rails to Trails project.

Hwy. 67 meeting to attract
Two members of congress, as well as highway officials and other elected officials, will be meeting in Walnut Ridge Thursday in an effort to promote the progression of four-lane construction on U.S. Hwy 67 through Northeast Arkansas to Missiouri.
