Keynote speakers and guests at the meeting will be Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson of Missouri, Congressman Marion Berry of Arkansas, as well as Dan Flowers, director of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department and John Edward Regenold, state highway commissioner from Armorel.
The meeting will consist of an update on the progress being made on four-lane construction of Highway 67 to Walnut Ridge, and particular emphasis will be given to the uncompleted sections from Walnut Ridge to Missouri, said Don House of Walnut Ridge, a member of the Arkansas Good Roads Transportation Counsel.
The meeting is being hosted by the Highway 67 Coalition, Williams Baptist College and the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. "We are very pleased to be hosting the Missouri delegation, as well as the mayors and legislators (along Hwy. 67)," House said. Representatives from the offices of Senator Pryor, Senator Lincoln and Gov. Mike Beebe's office have also been invited to attend.
He also said it is noteworthy that the two membes of congress, a Republican (Emerson) and a Democrat (Berry), are both joining together to work on this joint venture. "For this to work, it will be necessary to have the support of both of these members of congress."
