County enrollment up 150 this year

Countywide enrollment, at 3,246 this year, is the highest its been since 2002. Numbers have fallen at Hillcrest, Sloan-Hendrix and Black Rock, but student totals have increased at Hoxie, Imboden Area Charter School and Walnut Ridge. Total enrollment is up 150 from last year's 3,096.
Hillcrest's first day enrollment was 446, down nine from last year's 455.
Sloan-Hendrix's first day enrollment was 561, down from 580 in 2006.
First day enrollment for the Lawrence County School District's two campuses was 1,102, up from last year's 1,091. Black Rock's campus was down 21 from last year's 304, but enrollment at the Walnut Ridge campus was 819, up from last year's 787.
Imboden Area Charter School first day enrollment was up eight from last year's 52.
Hoxie School saw the largest increase in first day enrollment this year with 1,077. It was up 165 from last year's 912. Hoxie is running two buses to the former Delaplaine School District, which accounts for much of the increase.
