Horton wins photo contest

Amanda Horton of Black Rock is the overall winner of this year's Times Dispatch Summertime Photo Contest. The photo of her daughters, Laney, eight months, and Zoey, four, near a pond at their Nana and Poppa P's also took first place in the Summer Bonding category.

This year's contest was judged by Ernie Rice, photo lab supervisor for the Department of Journalism at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and Dr. Jack Zibluk, Associate Professor of Journalism at ASU.

Winning entries are featured in a special section of this week's TD.

There were 322 entries judged in 11 categories. Winners in each category are as follows:

Scenes of Summer: Melanie Liebhaber of Pocahontas, first; David Dement of Imboden, second; Connie Pickney of Springdale, third.

Fun & Games: Paula Haskins of Walnut Ridge, first; Stormy Cunningham of Walnut Ridge, second; Tonya Ferguson of Black Rock, third.

Expressions of Summer: Amanda Horton of Black Rock, first; Sandy Bristow of Vicksburg, Miss., second; Stormy Cunningham, third.
