Spargo leads team to
World Series victory

Staci Spargo of Walnut Ridge, a member of the Southern Tag 14-and-under softball team, recently led her team to victory at the USSSA World Series, held at the Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.

Southern Tag, which is based in Jacksonville, joined 35 teams in the A-division of the tournament on July 23-29. The team also remained in the winners bracket throughout the tournament.

Southern Tag competed against several teams and won the championship game against the Texas Jets on Sunday, July 29. This makes the third year in a row that the team has won the World Series.

Spargo led her team in batting average, .542 for the week, and had seven R.B.I.s. She also had four doubles, and in extra innings, Staci hit a double to left field and brought two in to win the game 4-3 which kept them in the winner's bracket.
