City Hall to be central
During their regular meeting last Tuesday evening, members of Hoxie City Council voted to make City Hall the central location for all city employees to clock in and out.

Employees have been punching the time clock at the department for which they work. Because of problems arising from clocks being spread throughout the various departments, the council decided that one clock would be more efficient, according to Katie Welch-Smith, city clerk.
Also during the meeting, aldermen approved a 50-cent per hour raise for Leonard Doan and Eddie Johnson for having their CDL.
A recommendation was made in 1997 by the council to offer a 50-cent raise for employees upon completion of a CDL. No ordinance or resolution was ever passed. Bobby Gibson, city attorney, will look over the recommendation and present the council with his findings at a later meeting, offering his advice on what action should be taken.
In other business the council:
- agreed to pay half of the cost of Hoxie School's summer baseball program. Hoxie Supt. Dennis Truxler estimated that the total cost of the program would be $8,500.
- voted to double the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce dues from what they paid last year.
- voted to raise the limit on the city's Visa Card.
