ENJOY READING PROGRAM

Guest speaker Phil Houston of Lake Charles State Park presented a program on beavers in Arkansas. Showing the children a beaver pelt, a trap and a beaver-gnawed log, he discussed the history of beavers in the state.

"Lawrence Health Services has been awarded top honors in the Arkansas Fitness Challenge (AFC) for two years running...pun intended," said Leah Osbahr, president of LHS. Two hospitals, one state and one federal agency and two senior adult groups took home gold-medal awards June 28 during ceremonies held at the River Market pavilion in downtown Little Rock.
WRVFD to purchase buildingThe Walnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Department has agreed to buy a building on Highway 67B North to use for a fire station. Fire Chief Alan Haskins and the executive board of the fire department were in attendance at the July 10 city council meeting with the news about the building they plan to purchase.
City Hall to be central
During their regular meeting last Tuesday evening, members of Hoxie City Council voted to make City Hall the central location for all city employees to clock in and out.
