Highway 63 project
The portion of Highway 63 connecting Lawrence and Craighead counties will be complete within a month, according to Joe Barnett of the Arkansas State Highway Department.
As of now, the two northbound lanes and the turning lane are open for traffic. Workers are finishing asphalt on driveways connected to the highway, causing one southbound lane to remain closed.
Barnett said once the asphalt work is complete, the lane and shoulder lines will be painted and raised pavement markers will be added between the white skip lines.
The final step will be the installation of a traffic signal at the Highway 91 crossing.
"For the public's purpose," said Barnett, "all five lanes should be open within a month, weather permitting."
