Ellie Britt, five, and Hope Huckabee, six months, are the grandchildren of Glenn and Janie Chadwick of Powhatan.
Ellie is the daughter of Larry and April Britt of Powhatan. She is also the granddaughter of Jim and Irene Britt of Pocahontas.
Hope is the daughter of Hadyn and Hollie Huckabee of Jonesboro. She is also the granddaughter of Terry and Johnnie Huckabee of Hot Springs.
Summer is busy season
It may be summertime, but I don't believe our local folks are slowing down. Community events and the activities of Lawrence Countians continue at full speed.
Many local citizens are interested in this year's Miss Arkansas Pageant with Walnut Ridge's Hollyann Crum in the competition this week. Next week, upcoming WRHS sophomore ShayLee Lawhon will compete in the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant.
On Friday, the Chamber will host our state senator, Robert Thompson, for a quarterly lunch meeting at the Hoxie Service Center.
How casual is casual?
You've just received an invitation to a summer party or wedding, and you read that the dress is "casual." You may wonder, "How casual is casual?" With the relaxation of dress codes there is often a great deal of confusion about what to wear to parties and other events.
If an invitation indicates that occasion is black tie, formal or cocktail then dress guidelines are more easily understood. However, if the occasion is casual, that can open up the proverbial Pandora's Box.
