Hoxie City Council
to revisit ordinance
Amber Adams
Staff Writer
Members of the Hoxie City Council decided to revisit ordinances governing the presence of big trucks on city streets during their meeting last Tuesday evening.
The current ordinance addresses vehicles in excess of one ton. Aldermen Kenny Franks and Adam Pratt will look over the ordinances and make a recommendation to reword them or leave them as is at the next regular council meeting.
During the meeting, Mayor Donnie Roberts informed the council that he along with City Clerk Katie Welch Smith and council member Sherry Moore would be attending Municipal League, where Roberts has been selected for the resolution committee. They will also be accepting a Loss Control and Safety Award on behalf of the City of Hoxie.
In other business the council:
- discussed the dog leash law.
- voted to give Street Superintendent Junior Waldrupe $20 toward a cell phone bill.
- discussed drainage problems near the railroad. Roberts has contacted the railroad regarding the issue, seeking their assistance in cleaning out the ditches.
- tabled a recommendation to change Wilson Schmidt's property from residential to commercial.
