Sheriff's Dept. to purchase two cars

Justices approved the purchase of two new vehicles for the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department during their regular meeting Monday night. The motion was made based upon a recommendation by the budget committee.

In other business, the budget committee reported that a letter had not been received from the Attorney' General's Office regarding the leasing of the Hutcherson Building.

County Judge Alex Latham reported that he is planning to schedule a consultation with an architect to look into adding a second courtroom. The addition would be built onto the existing courthouse, probably where the front entrance is now.

"I hope by the next regular meeting to have some numbers and a preliminary schedule," said Latham.
