Chamber quarterly meeting setThe quarterly meeting of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce will be June 22 at noon at the Hoxie Service Center.
State Sen. Robert Thompson will be the speaker. He will present an overview of the legislative session, particularly as the new acts pertain to city, county and local affairs.
Thompson serves in the Arkansas State Senate for District 11, which includes three counties in Northeast Arkansas, including Lawrence County. He previously served in the state House of Representatives for District 78.
As a state senator, Thompson serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Senate Committee on City, County and Local Affairs, and the Joint Energy Committee, as well as the Arkansas Legislative Council. He is chairman of three subcommittees, including the Legislative Council's Litigation Reports Oversight Subcommittee.
Thompson is a graduate of Hendrix College and the University of Arkansas School of Law. He lives in Paragould with his wife, Tori, and their two sons, Cross and Henry.
Bella'z of Walnut Ridge will cater the meal, which will cost $6 per person. Individuals who plan to attend should contact the Chamber office at 886-3232.
