Danny Vaughn of Hoxie plays the bagpipes on the morning of Memorial Day in front of the veteran's war memorial on the Lawrence County Courthouse lawn in Walnut Ridge. Vaughn, who also played in Trumann and Jonesboro, said, "I play a few minutes to show my respect and move on." This has become a tradition for Vaughn, who often performs on Memorial Day.

U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with Representative Marion Berry, have announced that $173,900 in Economic Impact Initiative Grants have been awarded to six cities in Arkansas' First Congressional District.

Cooper named VP at Williams

Williams Baptist College has announced the promotion of Brett Cooper to the position of vice president for college relations. Cooper, who currently serves as WBC's director of public relations, will assume his new role on July 1. continued...
