![]() ABANDONED HOUSE BURNS A firefighter works to get flames under control at an abandoned house at 1607 Southwest Broad Street in Hoxie. The fire was reported on Thursday at approximately 2:22 a.m. It is believed the fire may have been set as the house had already burned twice before and had no power or gas connected. WR dog problem
Walnut Ridge City Councilmen discussed the need for a full-time dogcatcher, equipment needed to mop out ditches to improve drainage and whether to use city helicopters or buy an airplane to spray for mosquitoes this summer at their May 8 meeting.

A two-vehicle accident on May 9 resulted in the death of a Walnut Ridge man, according to Cpl. R.T. Riggs of the Walnut Ridge Police Department. continued...
