The Walnut Ridge Bobcats' baseball season came to an end Saturday with a 12-2 loss to the Parkers Chapel Trojans in the second round of the Class 2A State Tournament at Pine Bluff.

Jared Blackwell scored on an RBI single by Noah Burnside in the top of the second inning to bring the Cats to within 3-2, but once again, the Trojans answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to regain a two-run lead.

Parkers Chapel went on to add four runs in the third inning, one in the fourth and three in the fifth to set the final score.

Walnut Ridge finished with two runs on six hits.

Tyler Kennedy pitched all five innings for the Bobcats.

"They're as good a team as we've played all year," said Walnut Ridge head coach Derek Bramlett. "They're 34-2 now.

"For our kids to get to the second round of the state tournament was a pretty good deal," added Bramlett.

Walnut Ridge finished the season with an 18-14 overall record.

Walnut Ridge defeated Carlisle 10-0 in the first round of the state tournament on Friday.
