Zebras are regional champions
The Black Rock Zebras claimed the championship of the 1A-3 Regional Baseball tournament with a 7-5 win over host Izard County Consolidated on May 1 at Brockwell.Mitch Thompson earned the victory from the mound. He pitched all seven innings, allowing five runs and striking out six. Thompson pitched a total of 12 innings in the regionals, earning all three wins.
The Zebras took an early 1-0 lead and added another run in the third. Black Rock hammered the ball in the fifth inning and increased their lead 7-0.

Cats make second round
of state tourney play
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats' baseball season came to an end Saturday with a 12-2 loss to the Parkers Chapel Trojans in the second round of the Class 2A State Tournament at Pine Bluff.

Cats are runners-up
in regional tourney
Tuckerman's Alex Sullins overpowered Walnut Ridge's Bobcats both on the mound and at the plate in leading the Bulldogs to a 12-1 win in the championship game of the 2A North Regional Baseball Tournament on May 1 at Newark.
