County discusses prospects
During its meeting on Monday afternoon the Lawrence County Quorum Court budget committee discussed possible uses for the Hutcherson Building.
for Hutcherson Building
County Judge Alex Latham said he has not made any decisions on it thus far because he wanted the court to decide together what would be best for the county.
Committee members were updated on interests in the building, including a recent inquiry by Cole's Furniture. It was discussed that putting an established business in the building would not only take care of the upkeep, but also bring money into the county through sales tax.
The possibility of cutting rent cost if the renter were to pay taxes, insurance and upkeep on the building or whether to factor those costs into the rental price was also discussed.
The committee plans to meet to look over proposals from interested parties. Others who have expressed interest include the Office of Veteran's Affairs and the Lawrence County Library.
