The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats faced host Rector in the first round of the 2A East regional softball tournament on Saturday.
Zebras ready for state actionThe Black Rock Zebras defeated the Armorel Tigers 14-12 in eight innings in the semifinals of the 1A Region 3 Regional baseball tournament at Brockwell on Monday. Black Rock was to face the host team, Izard County Consolidated, in the championship game on Tuesday evening. Making it to the regional finals qualifies the Zebras for the state playoffs.
Cats beat Bay,
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats built an 8-0 lead after five innings and withstood a Bay rally to hold on for an 8-7 win over the Yellowjackets in the semifinals of the 2A-North Regional baseball tournament at Newark on Monday. Bay scored seven late runs, including three in the seventh inning, and had the tying run on second base when the final out was recorded.

The Hoxie Mustangs fell to the Cave City Cavemen 17-1 in the 3A Region 3 baseball tournament at Harrison on Saturday.
Weir to play Williams baseballFrom their earliest Little League days, many young boys dream of playing baseball on a college or professional level. For Walnut Ridge graduating senior Ryan Weir that dream has come true. He signed last Wednesday his intent to play baseball for the Williams Baptist College Eagles.
