Hoxie's Lady Mustangs defeated the Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles 11-4 to claim the championship of the 2007 Lawrence County Softball Tournament on April 17. The title was the third consecutive and the ninth in the past 10 years for the Lady Mustangs.
Kelsey Dobbs earned the win from the mound, with endless pitching throughout the tourney.
Rachel Goff batted 1-for-2 with a double, and had an RBI and three stolen bases. Holly King went 4-for-5 with two singles, a double, a triple and three stolen bases. Katherine Holder hit 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Dobbs went 1-for-3, and Shayla Coats hit 1-for-2.
Hoxie ~ WR
The Lady Mustangs defeated the Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats 9-5 in one semifinal contest.
Kelsey Dobbs took the win for the Lady Mustangs.
Hoxie's Goff walked four times and had a single and three stolen bases. Ashley Glenn notched a double and an RBI. King recorded an RBI. Holder went 4-for-4 at the plate, and Jessica Barber batted 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Hillcrest ~ BR
Black Rock and Hillcrest faced off in the other semifinal contest, with Hillcrest advancing with a 15-14 win.
Lady Zebra Jordan Fore hit 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Bethany Erwin batted 2- for-5 for Black Rock.
BR ~ S-H
The Black Rock Lady Zebras advanced to the semifinals with a win over Sloan-Hendrix in the first game of the tournament on April 12.
