Baseball Bobcats are
district runners-up

The Walnut Ridge Bobcats raced to an early lead against Tuckerman, only to see the Bulldogs rally for a 6-4 victory in the finals of the 2A-2 District Baseball Tournament on Monday at Newark.
Walnut Ridge scored three runs in the top of the third inning to take a 3-0 lead, but Tuckerman took the lead with five runs in the bottom of the inning.
Walnut Ridge scored a run in the top of the fifth to pull within 5-4, but Tuckerman answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to set the final score.
Both teams advanced to the regional tournament, which begins on Saturday in Newark.
Midland
Walnut Ridge scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Midland 8-7 in a semifinal contest on Saturday.
Ryan Weir started the inning with a home run to tie the game 7-7. Brandon Dawson notched a single, while the courtesy runner Logan Gaither stole second base. Gaither then took third on Noah Burnside's sacrifice bunt. A wild pitch allowed Gaither to come home with the winning run.
Dawson earned the win, giving up seven runs on eight hits and striking out 11 while pitching a complete game.
