Baseball Cats beat S-H
Sloan-Hendrix traveled to Walnut Ridge Thursday to meet the Bobcats in high school baseball action.
Walnut Ridge took the win 7-5 to improve to 12-11 overall and 8-2 in 2A-2 conference play.
Walnut Ridge scored a run in the first inning and one in the second to take a 2-0 lead.
The Hounds scored two runs in the top of the fourth, but the Bobcats added three in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead at 5-2. Walnut Ridge scored two more runs in the fifth to Sloan-Hendrix's one. The Bobcats held the Hounds to two runs in the sixth inning to hang on to for the win.
The Bobcats' Brandon Dawson earned the win, pitching seven innings and giving up five runs on seven hits, while walking two and striking out eight.
Chris Logan hit 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a stolen base. Ryan Weir closed with two hits, two RBIs and a scored a run. Dawson hit 2-for-3 and scored two runs. William Wilcoxson went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Noah Burnside and Heath Kennedy earned an RBI each. Bennett Dudley hit 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run. Tyler Kennedy hit 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Jerod Blackwell had a hit.
Greyhound Aaron Higginbotham took the loss, allowing seven runs on 10 hits with seven walks and striking out one.
Phillip Dunn batted 2-for-4 with a run scored. Colton Simpson hit 1-for-3 with an RBI. Trevor Anderson also hit 1-for-3. Higginbotham hit 1-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run. Drew Meyer had an RBI and scored a run, and Zack Ogden scored a run.
