Hillcrest beats Calico Rock

The Hillcrest baseball team recorded an 8-4 win over Calico Rock on Monday at Strawberry.

Marcus Huskey led the way offensively, batting 4-for-4 with a double and scoring four runs. Jared Cook went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs. Jordan Hunter, Derek Wooten, Jared Parker and Kyle Bristow had one hit each. Hunter, Parker and Bristow all recorded doubles.

Wooten picked up his fourth win from the mound, improving to 4-1 overall.

The win gave Hillcrest an 11-10 record for the season.

Tuckerman

Hillcrest traveled to Tuckerman on April 10 and lost to the Bulldogs 9-8.

The Eagles took an early 5-1 lead after the first inning, and added three more runs in the third inning to take an 8-1 lead.

The Bulldogs began their comeback with a run in the fourth inning and one in the fifth to close to within 8-3. Tuckerman closed the final inning, scoring six runs to capture the win.

The Eagles' Jared Parker pitched six innings. Michael Spain came on in relief and allowed two runs on one hit, with a strikeout and two walks.

Cook went 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.

Hillcrest fell to 10-10 overall and 3-7 conference play.
