Lady Mustangs have
up and down week

Corning edged Hoxie's Lady Mustangs 6-5 in high school softball on Thursday at Corning.

Rachel Goff's sixth-inning triple put Hoxie ahead 5-2, but the Lady Bobcats retaliated for the win.

Goff batted 3-for-3 with two triples and a single, for three RBIs. Holly King hit 3-for-4. Katherine Holder and Tabitha Weaver each had singles.

Marmaduke

Hoxie took on Marmaduke in a softball doubleheader on April 11.

The Lady Mustangs took the first game 13-3.

King went 2-for-3 with a single and a triple. Ashley Glenn and Jessica Barber each batted 1-for-3 with an earned RBI. Weaver and Shalicia Wilson hit 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Holder batted 1-for-3.

Hoxie won the second match 15-0.

King went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Kelsey Dobbs batted 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Dobbs won both games on the mound.

Manila

Hoxie played Manila in a doubleheader on April 10, dropping both games by scores of 4-3 and 5-0.

In the first game, Goff batted 2-for-2 with a single and a triple, and Glenn hit 1-for-2.

In the second game, Weaver and Barber each went 1-for-2 at the plate.

East Poinsett County

The Lady Mustangs started the week off with a doubleheader sweep of East Poinsett County on April 9 at Hoxie.

Hoxie won the first game 11-0.

Goff was 1-for-2 with a double and two stolen bases. Glenn hit 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. King went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Weaver hit 1-for-2. Holder went 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Wilson earned an RBI.

Hoxie defeated EPC in the late game 11-2.

Goff was 2-for-4 at the plate, with a double and an inside-the-park home run for an RBI. King hit 1-for-3 with an RBI. Weaver and Barber each batted 1-for-3 with two RBIs apiece. Wilson went 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Dobbs pitched both matches for Hoxie and recorded 11 strikeouts.
